2010: Week 7 Preview, final week of regular season

U15

King-Philip @ Foxboro. KP heads to Foxboro for some Warrior on Warrior battle. Foxboro is the sole remaining undefeated team at the U15 level while KP is having a .500 season. KP is coming off of a loss to Westwood and will be looking to leave it all on the field against Foxboro’s league leading defense. Prediction: Warriors win. The one’s from Foxboro.

Norwood @ Westwood. Norwood travels next door to Westwood for a fight in the ‘woods. Norwood is having a tough season and would like nothing more than to close it out with a W, but they’ll need to contain Westwood’s strong offense and that won’t be easy. Westwood’s defense will be busy contending with Norwood’s speed and transition game. Prediction: Westwood’s Wolverines chomp on the Mustangs.

Canton @ Franklin. The Bulldogs and the Panthers each have 2 wins under their respective belts, however, Franklin has shown themselves to be stronger on both ends of the field. Canton is working hard all over the field and never roll over, this one is going to be an old fashioned, gritty lacrosse game focusing on skills and strategy. Prediction: the Panthers maul the Bulldogs.

Walpole @ Mansfield. In what could be a preview of the playoff quarter finals, the first place Rebels will take on the last place Hornets. Mansfield is looking for their first win of the season, but chances are very slim that they’ll find it at the expense of a strong Walpole team. Walpole’s strong defense has only allowed an average of 4 goals per game while Mansfield’s offense is averaging just over 2. Prediction: Rebels bring a can of Raid.

U13

Franklin @ Canton. Franklin’s Panthers are heading to Canton for a rare road game. Canton is looking for it’s first W of the season, but Franklin’s strong offense will be firing on all cylinders against a struggling Canton defense. Prediction: Franklin wins it on the road.

Foxboro @ King-Philip. Foxboro has the unenviable task of going to KP to take on the Warrior juggernaut. KP’s league leading offense will be showering Foxboro’s defense with shots and Foxboro will have to play out of their minds to stand up to the onslaught. Prediction: KP will remain undefeated.

Norwood @ Westwood. The Mustangs will have a double header in Westwood at the battle of the ‘woods. The U13 Mustangs strong attack will be running into the league’s weakest defense. If Westwood’s defense has any chance of stopping the Norwood attack, they’ll need to be very fast and hold strong against the disciplined Mustang offense. Prediction: the Mustangs trample on the Wolverines.

Walpole @ Mansfield. The Rebels kick of a double header in Mansfield on Friday. The Hornets are a .500 team and they’re coming off of double OT tie with Norwood last week, while Walpole snuck one past Franklin in a 4th quarter thiller. Both teams show themselves to be fighters who play all 60 minutes, and then some. Prediction: Rebels make it a two fer and end the season with a W.

Schedule change: U13 Mansfield @ Norwood, 5/14

2010: Week 5 Preview

U15

King-Philip @ Norwood. KP has been running mid-pack this season with a .500 record while Norwood is struggling on the field. Norwood is working on their defense and trying to stem the tide while KP seems to be working on their offense. The two will collide in a showdown in Norwood tonight. Prediction: KP takes it.

Foxboro @ Westwood. Westwood is the surprise of the season with an offense that is able to rack up some numbers and a defense that continues to improve. Foxboro is having a great season and they confound opponents with their zone defense. Westwood is going to have to hit the field with a purpose if they hope to find any cracks in Foxboro’s defense. Prediction: close game, coming down to the wire, Westwood for the upset.

Walpole @ Canton. Canton is having a light switch of a season; they took a beating at the hands of Westwood and Foxboro, but then took out their aggressions on Mansfield and Norwood. Walpole has dropped one to Foxboro, had a street fight with Westwood, but took it to Norwood and KP. Prediction: Walpole turns out the lights on Canton.

Franklin @ Mansfield. Franklin has 2 wins under their belt against KP and Norwood but suffered at the hands of Foxboro and Westwood. Mansfield is occupying the basement and looking to find their groove. Prediction: unless Mansfield can begin to gel as a team and string together some offensive drives, this looks to be a Franklin win.

U13

Walpole @ Canton. Walpole ran head first into 2 strong teams, Norwood and KP, dropping their games in dramatic fashion; however, they showed promise against Westwood and Foxboro. Canton is struggling and continues to search for answers and a first win. Prediction: Walpole wins and moves above .500

Foxboro @ Westwood. Foxboro is a bit of a mystery (still looking for game scores), but rumor is they’re struggling. Westwood is new to the league and though they dropped a couple of games to Walpole and Mansfield, they absolutely ran over Canton. Prediction: Westwood wins at home.

Norwood @ King-Philip. Sure to be the game of the week, Norwood heads to Wrentham to take on the KP juggernaut. Both of these teams are putting up huge numbers and fireworks are expected on the field tonight. KP’s strong middies vs Norwood’s strong attack. Tough call here. Prediction: it’s a coin toss, Norwood comes up heads.

Franklin @ Mansfield. Based on the numbers, Franklin doesn’t appear to be a threat, until you realize that they hung right in there with the 2 teams leading the pack this year; Norwood and KP. Mansfield on the other hand dropped a game by a wide margin to KP, but also rang up some big numbers against Canton and Westwood. Prediction: Franklin drives home with the win.

U13 Norwood @ KP, time change

Please make note of the time change for the U13 Norwood @ KP game scheduled for Friday, May 7, 2010. The time of the game has changed to 6:30 PM.

Schedule change, Walpole @ KP

Both the U15 and U13 games will be held at King-Philip High School on route 140 in Wrentham. The U13 game is scheduled for 7:00 PM. The U15 game will be held at 8:30 PM.

Week 2: U15 Wolverines tame the Bulldogs, U13 Wolverines follow suit

Proving that their debut FNL game was no fluke, the U15 Wolverines hosted the Canton Bulldogs who were promptly put on a leash at Flahive Field. The Wolverines go Dog Whisperer on the Bulldogs, 14-4.

Still smarting from their stinging loss at the hands of the Mansfield Hornets in week 1, the U13 Wolverines took the field with something to prove and a need to win. The U13 Bulldogs could not stand up to the Wolverine onslaught and go down whimpering, Wolverines own it, 14-4.

Week 1: U15 Wolverines destroy the hive, U13 Hornets swarm

Westwood’s U15 Wolverines come out of the gate hard in their debut FNL game against the Mansfield Hornets. The Wolverines owned the field up and down, contending with the Hornets capable defense but still zipping the ball into the back of the Hornets goal. The Wolverines destroy the hive, 12-3.

The U13 Wolverines did not find their debut FNL game to be as pleasant, the U13 Hornets swarmed the Wolverines for a welcome-to-the-FNL smack down, 12-6.
